Deck overview

This Rakdos deck centers on Ozai, the Phoenix King, using combat-based firebending triggers to accumulate large amounts of unspent red mana. Because Ozai prevents unspent mana from emptying, he transforms temporary combat mana into a permanent battery. Once you float six or more mana, Ozai becomes an indestructible 7/7 flying threat with trample. The deck leverages this massive mana reserve to power large late-game spells such as Exsanguinate or multiple mid-sized threats. Built without fast mana rocks or cheap tutors, the deck operates at a deliberate battlecruiser pace. It relies on a high land count of 42 lands to hit its mana drops naturally through the early game. While its late-game mana output is immense, the strategy relies heavily on keeping Ozai alive across multiple table rotations, leaving it vulnerable to targeted exile removal, bounce spells, and fast combo strategies.
