Deck overview

This deck is an aggressive Rakdos Group Slug and Punisher Combo strategy commanded by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The primary game plan revolves around deploying cheap, recurring damage permanents like Roiling Vortex, Razorkin Needlehead, and Ankh of Mishra during the opening turns. Once Valgavoth enters the battlefield, these continuous life-loss triggers draw an extra card on each opponent's turn while steadily growing Valgavoth into a lethal flying threat. As the table takes accumulating damage from spellcasting taxes and draw penalties like Spellshock and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, the deck rapidly digs into its decisive win conditions. It can finish games through overwhelming commander combat damage, a massive Exsanguinate, or its compact two-card infinite combo of Bloodchief Ascension and Mindcrank. Supported by efficient interaction, redirection magic, and search denial from Opposition Agent, the deck suffocates opposing game plans while generating massive resource disparity.
