Deck overview

This Simic Merfolk kindred deck is led by Hakbal of the Surging Soul, focusing on establishing an aggressive, low-to-the-ground board of synergistic Merfolk. Early turns deploy cheap utility creatures and acceleration, setting the stage for Hakbal to land on turn 4. Once Hakbal triggers at combat, the entire team explores, filtering draws, accelerating land deployment directly onto the battlefield, and stacking +1/+1 counters. By turn 5, the deck transitions into critical onset, utilizing islandwalk lords like Lord of Atlantis alongside land-manipulation like Harbinger of the Seas or evasion from Herald of Secret Streams to deliver lethal, unblockable swings. The deck sustains its pressure with abundant countermagic, efficient single-target removal, and mass-protection spells, grinding down opponents across two combat rotations while continually refilling its hand.
