Deck overview

This Mardu deck is a classic combat-centric cheat strategy commanded by Kaalia of the Vast. Its primary game plan is accelerating mana on Turn 2 via artifacts like Boros Signet or Talisman of Indulgence to deploy Kaalia on Turn 3. On Turn 4, Kaalia attacks to bypass mana costs, putting massive Angels, Demons, and Dragons directly onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. The creature package combines rapid aerial damage from Scourge of the Throne and Lathliss, Dragon Queen with asymmetric board control from Archfiend of Depravity, Angelic Arbiter, and Liesa, Forgotten Archangel. While the deck possesses explosive tempo when Kaalia connects, its linear reliance on combat damage results in an extended 4-cycle clock to eliminate all three opponents. Furthermore, the complete absence of tutors and card-selection spells creates high draw variance, leaving the strategy vulnerable to well-timed spot removal on Kaalia or repeated board wipes.
