Deck overview

This mono-black aristocrats deck is commanded by Ayara, First of Locthwain, functioning as both a persistent life-drain outlet and a reliable draw engine in the command zone. The deck focuses on assembling sacrifice engines using recursive creatures such as Gravecrawler, Bloodghast, and Reassembling Skeleton, alongside token producers like Bitterblossom and Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia. Mana acceleration from Crypt Ghast, Ashnod's Altar, and Pitiless Plunderer fuels large multi-sacrifice turns, while payoffs like Blood Artist, Mirkwood Bats, and Vindictive Vampire drain the entire table symmetrically. The deck includes robust creature removal through Toxic Deluge, Black Sun's Zenith, and V.A.T.S., as well as potent card advantage engines such as Skullclamp and Yawgmoth, Thran Physician. While vulnerable to graveyard hate and non-creature permanents, the deck leverages deep redundancy to grind opponents down by Turn 8.
