Deck overview

This deck is a mono-blue spellslinger tempo strategy led by Octavia, Living Thesis. The primary plan rapidly stocks the graveyard with eight or more instant and sorcery cards using efficient one-mana cantrips and targeted self-mill like Thought Scour and Quiet Speculation. Once the graveyard threshold is met, Octavia deploys for just two blue mana, protected inherently by Ward {8}. The deck then leverages Octavia's Magecraft ability to transform cheap, evasive creatures—such as Faerie tokens, Shoreline Looter, and Duelist of the Mind—into 8/8 attackers whenever an instant or sorcery is cast or copied. Spells like Artful Dodge and Slip Through Space grant unblockability while cantripping, pushing massive chunks of evasive combat damage. While the deck boasts immense card velocity, high functional redundancy, and strong resilience against single-target removal, its reliance on a multi-turn combat clock and vulnerability to graveyard hate and sweepers define its main strategic limitations.
