Deck overview

This is an Esper discard-reanimator midrange deck helmed by Hashaton, Scarab's Fist. The core plan is to discard high-impact creatures, pay Hashaton, Scarab's Fist's {2}{U} trigger, and stamp out 4/4 black Zombie copies that retain the original's abilities-turning Archon of Cruelty, Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, Sheoldred, Whispering One, and Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur into efficient, repeated value engines. A dense looting suite (Ledger Shredder, Vohar, Vodalian Desecrator, Likeness Looter, Frantic Search) fuels both the commander and a classic reanimation package (Reanimate, Animate Dead, Victimize, Living Death, Priest of Fell Rites). Secondary win paths include Laboratory Maniac deck-outs, devotion drains off Gray Merchant of Asphodel, and overwhelming combat from copied praetors and Toxrill, the Corrosive. The deck plays as resilient value midrange that grinds through interaction and closes with layered combo or board presence.
