Deck overview

This deck is a competitive Izzet turbo-storm build helmed by Ral, Monsoon Mage. The primary game plan seeks to leverage fast mana, cheap rituals, and Ral's passive cost reduction to deploy Underworld Breach as early as Turn 2. Once Breach resolves, escaping Lion's Eye Diamond alongside Brain Freeze generates infinite storm and mana, milling the entire library before finishing the table with either lethal Brain Freeze mill or a massive Grapeshot. The deck protects this rapid kill with a dense suite of free and efficient countermagic, including Deflecting Swat, Fierce Guardianship, and Pact of Negation. If Breach is disrupted or unavailable, backup engines like Past in Flames, Bonus Round, and Mind's Desire allow the deck to pivot smoothly into secondary storm lines. With blistering speed and resilient stack protection, the deck excels at threatening immediate game-ending wins before slower strategies can stabilize.
