Deck overview

This Derevi deck is a Bant flying-bird tempo deck. The primary plan is to flood the battlefield with evasive creatures, reduce their cost with Watcher of the Spheres and Warden of Evos Isle, and pump them with Favorable Winds, Empyrean Eagle, and Thunderclap Wyvern. Derevi acts as both a combat trigger and a reusable untap engine, tapping blockers and untapping mana creatures or Inga and Esika to chain more flyers. The +1/+1 counter subtheme from Ride the Shoopuf, Growth Curve, and proliferate gives a secondary way to push damage. Kastral, the Windcrested is the closest hidden commander, converting Bird combat damage into reanimation, pumps, and cards. The deck wins through combat; there are no infinite combos.
