Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov lifegain and Voltron strategy commanded by Karlov of the Ghost Council. The core game plan establishes rapid, low-cost lifegain triggers using soul sister effects such as Soul Warden, Authority of the Consuls, and Healer's Hawk. These triggers rapidly place +1/+1 counters on Karlov, quickly transforming the commander into a massive combat threat while fueling its built-in creature exile ability. The deck leverages top-tier black and white tutors to find key synergy pieces, protection spells, or alternate win conditions like Aetherflux Reservoir and Bolas's Citadel. Counter-retention artifacts like The Ozolith and Agatha's Soul Cauldron preserve power across board wipes. While the deck dominates creature-based matchups and executes swift single-target knockouts, it closes out multi-opponent games over multiple combat cycles and remains vulnerable to noncreature combo strategies due to a lack of stack interaction.
