Deck overview

Smaug the Magnificent is a mono-red Treasure-dragon deck that plays exactly like its namesake: it hoards Treasures, then detonates them. The primary plan is to stack a large Treasure count and point Smaug's attack trigger - damage equal to that count - at opponents, re-firing it through extra-combat spells like Aggravated Assault, Scourge of the Throne, Great Train Heist, and Desert Were-Worm. Twinflame Tyrant and Fiery Emancipation multiply those triggers into one-turn kills. If the combat route is blocked, the deck pivots to the artifact-count alternate wins of Hellkite Tyrant and Knuckles the Echidna. Token engines such as Goldspan Dragon, Xorn, Academy Manufactor, and Descent into Avernus make every Treasure worth more, while The One Ring and Bonehoard Dracosaur keep cards flowing. The curve is high, but the Treasure engine makes the deck explosive once the haste commander starts attacking.
