Commander: Taskmaster, Mercenary Mimic

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Taskmaster, Mercenary Mimic leads a dimir mill-and-copy shell. The deck's primary win is charging Bloodchief Ascension with combat damage and then pairing it with Mindcrank to mill every opponent at once. Backup plans use half-library effects such as Traumatize, Maddening Cacophony, and Jidoor's Overture, plus Court of Cunning and Psychic Corrosion to grind out the table. Taskmaster's first-main-phase copy ability makes him a flexible attacker, blocker, or value piece, often copying your own clone engines or the best creature in a graveyard. Sakashima of a Thousand Faces in the 99 acts as a hidden second commander, allowing multiple nonlegendary Taskmaster copies. The deck is mid-paced but has strong stack interaction and protection.
