Deck overview

Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver leads a classic Dimir Zombie tribal deck that blends go-wide token generation with aristocrat sacrifice engines. The deck curve focuses on deploying resilient Zombie creatures in the early turns, establishing Wilhelt by Turn 4 to convert dying creatures into card draw and decayed Zombie tokens. As the game develops, the deck scales up through tribal lords, mass token spells like Army of the Damned, and graveyard recursion spells like Zombie Apocalypse. Death triggers from Diregraf Captain and sacrifice edicts from Butcher of Malakir drain opponents while keeping opposing creature boards clear. The deck reliably creates a lethal board presence around Turn 7 and finishes games across two combat cycles by Turn 9 using flying or menace evasion. While the deck boasts strong natural card flow and board persistence, its lack of counterspells and artifact removal leaves it vulnerable to noncreature combo strategies and mass graveyard exile.
