Deck overview

This deck is an aggressive battlecruiser stompy deck led by Rakdos, Lord of Riots. The primary game plan relies on early pingers and burn spells to deal combat or noncombat damage to opponents on turns one through four. This fulfills Rakdos's casting restriction and allows him to enter the battlefield on curve. Once Rakdos is active, combat damage from his six-power flying body reduces the generic mana costs of creature spells by six or more. This mana discount lets the deck deploy overwhelming high-cost threats—such as Terror of the Peaks, Grave Titan, Doom Whisperer, and Artisan of Kozilek—for just their colored mana requirements on turn five. These massive creatures apply lethal board pressure across turns six and seven. The deck backs up this aggressive strategy with a robust suite of efficient creature removal, board wipes, and modest card draw, though it remains vulnerable to targeted removal on its commander and lacks countermagic to defend critical setup turns.
