Deck overview

This deck is a Rakdos group slug midrange strategy commanded by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The game plan revolves around deploying dense, redundant permanent sources of continuous life loss such as Roiling Vortex, Razorkin Needlehead, Ankh of Mishra, and Citadel of Pain. Valgavoth weaponizes these triggers by drawing a card and growing with a +1/+1 counter on every opponent's turn they lose life, generating up to three bonus cards per table rotation. This steady influx of resources enables the deck to continuously drop disruptive punisher pieces, hate cards like Price of Glory and Smoke, and board control spells. Without relying on infinite combos or fast mana, the deck drains all three opponents symmetrically while breaking parity through superior card flow, lifelink equipment, and commander beatdown, steadily closing the game out around turn 8.
