Deck overview

This mono-black deck is built around Gwenom, Remorseless, using her attack trigger to turn life into mana and cast spells directly from the top of the library. The core strategy accelerates Gwenom into play alongside lifegain enablers like Ayara, First of Locthwain, Creeping Bloodsucker, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel. Once Gwenom attacks, she digs through the library by paying life to deploy game-ending combo pieces. The primary finish is the two-card infinite drain loop of Exquisite Blood paired with Sanguine Bond, Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, or Enduring Tenacity, or a massive storm turn finishing with Aetherflux Reservoir and Tendrils of Agony. The deck features high redundancy in life-drain payoffs and strong burst mana via black rituals. However, its low land count of 25 lands and reliance on Gwenom connecting in combat make it vulnerable to early mana stalls and well-timed creature removal.
