Deck overview

This mono-blue tempo deck is led by Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive, turning creatures with power or toughness 1 or less into unblockable attackers. The game plan relies on deploying cheap, evasive threats that trigger combat damage abilities and card draw enchantments like Bident of Thassa and Reconnaissance Mission. Drawing multiple cards each turn fuels a continuous stream of bounce spells, countermagic, and additional attackers. The deck establishes a critical threat around Turn 6 by cloning Mist-Syndicate Naga, pumping Chasm Skulker, or draining the table with Psychosis Crawler. While it lacks fast infinite combos or hard stax locks, the deck maintains substantial card advantage and tempo advantage over fair decks. It closes games by Turn 9 through unblockable combat swings while using targeted interaction and light attack taxes to defend its life total.
