Deck overview

This is a Bant +1/+1 counter midrange deck built around Tidus, Yuna's Guardian. Tidus is not a combo outlet; he is a combat-value engine who shifts counters onto the right attacker each combat and rewards connection with a Cheer - draw a card and proliferate. The 99 is dense with counter multipliers (Hardened Scales, Kami of Whispered Hopes, Shang-Chi, Martial Mentor, Loading Zone), counter-based card advantage (Fathom Mage, Tireless Tracker, Bred for the Hunt), and finishers that convert a large counter board into a table kill: Chocobo Knights double strike, Champion of Lambholt evasion, Walking Ballista as a sink, and Prologue to Phyresis plus proliferate as a poison backdoor. Yuna, Grand Summoner acts as an honorary second engine in the 99, producing mana, extra counters, and salvage on death.
