Deck overview

This deck is an aggressive Gruul lands and +1/+1 counters strategy led by Toph, Hardheaded Teacher. It focuses on turning lands into aggressive 0/0 creatures with haste and +1/+1 counters whenever spells are cast. Because earthbent lands automatically return to the battlefield tapped when they die or are exiled, the deck possesses natural resilience against conventional creature board wipes. Early turns prioritize efficient mana ramp through spells like Nature's Lore and Shared Roots to establish Toph ahead of curve. Once assembled, the deck multiplies counters and board presence through powerhouses such as Branching Evolution, Bristly Bill, Spine Sower, and Avenger of Zendikar. The endgame closes rapidly around Turn 5-6 using explosive combat multipliers like Moraug, Fury of Akoum and Toph, Greatest Earthbender to deliver lethal trample and double-strike damage across the table. Supported by instant-speed protection like Sylvan Safekeeper and Heroic Intervention, the deck maintains momentum and recovers effortlessly from opposing disruption.
