Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Esper tribal list built around The Ur-Sphinx's passive cost reduction and the unique redundancy of 17 copies of Sphinx's Approach. Early turns prioritize mana rock deployment, cost reducers like Urza's Incubator, and cycling through Approach spells to sculpt the hand and populate the graveyard. On Turn 5, the deck deploys Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign, unlocking massive cost discounts and cascading 'Fact or Fiction' triggers on every subsequent Sphinx cast. Critical pressure arrives on Turn 6 through an air armada featuring Consecrated Sphinx, Enigma Sphinx, and Medomai the Ageless. Medomai grants an immediate extra turn on combat connection, doubling early damage output before opponents can stabilize. Supported by clean removal like Swords to Plowshares and protection via Teferi's Protection, the deck closes games out around Turn 8 through overwhelming aerial combat damage.
