Commander: The Balrog, Durin's Bane

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos value-sacrifice deck helmed by The Balrog, Durin's Bane. The primary game plan is to generate a constant stream of creatures and artifacts to sacrifice, fueling treasure production, card draw (via Witch's Cauldron, Vampiric Rites, Priest of Forgotten Gods), and drain effects (Mayhem Devil, Goblin Bombardment). The commander acts as a resilient, hasty finisher that can be cast at a steep discount by sacrificing permanents earlier in the turn. The deck wins through incremental combat damage and repeated sacrifice triggers, with no infinite combos. Recursion is abundant (Forsaken Miner, Oversold Cemetery, Bonecaller Cleric), allowing the deck to grind through multiple board wipes. The primary win condition is a slow, persistent assault that grinds down life totals while the commander's evasion (can't be blocked except by legendary creatures) accelerates the clock.
