Deck overview

This mono-black deck leverages Zenos yae Galvus // Shinryu, Transcendent Rival to bypass the standard requirement of dealing 120 total damage in Commander. By transforming Zenos into Shinryu and binding it to a single opponent, you win the entire game the moment that target player loses. The deck accelerates into an early Zenos using fast mana and black rituals, then triggers the transformation using Zenos's built-in -2/-2 sweep or cheap spot removal. Once transformed, Shinryu presents an 8/8 flying clock that quickly eliminates the chosen player via combat buffs, infect from Phyresis, or double life loss from Bloodletter of Aclazotz. As an independent backup plan, the deck runs redundant pieces for the classic Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond infinite drain loop alongside massive life-drain finishers like Torment of Hailfire and Exsanguinate. While the deck features dense creature removal and solid equipment-based protection, it has inherent mono-black vulnerabilities against opposing noncreature permanents.
