Deck overview

This deck is a high-velocity Golgari midrange stompy engine built around The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride. The strategy uses aggressively undercosted creatures with massive power, such as Lupine Prototype, Pugnacious Hammerskull, and Daemogoth Titan, to satisfy Gitrog's Saddle 1 requirement immediately upon deployment. Once Gitrog attacks with haste and trample on Turn 4, sacrificing the saddled creature draws between 5 and 11 cards while placing that many lands directly onto the battlefield tapped. This explosive burst creates insurmountable mana acceleration and card advantage in a single combat step. From this dominant position, the deck leverages late-game landfall powerhouses like Avenger of Zendikar and Rampaging Baloths, direct life loss from Psychosis Crawler, or massive combat damage to overwhelm all three opponents by Turn 6. Cheap protection spells like Defend the Rider and Undying Malice shield the commander during vulnerable attack windows.
