Deck overview

This mono-black deck is an aristocrats and attrition strategy led by Avacyn, Angel of Horror. The deck focuses on assembling sacrifice engines using recursive creatures like Bloodghast, Reassembling Skeleton, and Ophiomancer alongside drain payoffs such as Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, Bastion of Remembrance, and Marionette Apprentice. Card draw engines like Braids, Arisen Nightmare, Morbid Opportunist, and Deadly Dispute maintain resource flow while cost reducers and ramp accelerate into high-impact centerpieces. On Turn 6, the deck deploys game-warping threats like Bolas's Citadel, Syr Konrad, the Grim, or Gray Merchant of Asphodel to drain the entire table. Opponents' death triggers are suppressed by Gisa, Glorious Resurrector and The Darkness Crystal. While highly resilient to traditional board wipes and destruction through Avacyn's end-step recursion and death-return instants, the deck is vulnerable to exile-based interaction, graveyard hate, and fast non-creature combo strategies.
