Deck overview

This deck is a Rakdos group slug and combo engine commanded by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The strategy turns routine opponent actions—such as drawing cards, tapping lands, or casting spells—into mandatory life loss using dense passive pingers like Roiling Vortex, Razorkin Needlehead, Underworld Dreams, and Manabarbs. Valgavoth capitalizes on this attrition by triggering on every opponent's turn to draw cards and grow into a massive flying threat. The continuous card advantage fuels rapid assembly of damage multipliers (Solphim, Mayhem Dominus, Wound Reflection) and compact infinite life-drain loops (Exquisite Blood combined with Sanguine Bond, Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, or Bloodthirsty Conqueror, as well as Bloodchief Ascension with Mindcrank). With incidental lifegain from Shadowspear and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse offsetting symmetric slug damage, the deck chokes opposing resources before closing the game decisively.
