Deck overview

This Orzhov deck leverages Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim as a cheap sacrifice outlet and early lifegain sink. The primary game plan revolves around generating creature tokens using cards like Raise the Alarm, Cat Collector, and Elspeth, Sun's Champion, then converting them into incremental life advantages through soul sisters such as Lunarch Veteran and Healer of the Pride. These lifegain triggers feed drain engines like Marauding Blight-Priest, Starscape Cleric, and Bastion of Remembrance to steadily reduce opponent life totals. In the late game, big mana payoffs such as Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Defiant Bloodlord accelerate the clock, while reaching 50 life enables Ayli's repeatable permanent exile ability. Because the deck lacks dedicated ramp artifacts and instant-speed stack interaction, it plays a deliberate, board-centric midrange game that relies on resilient token generation, targeted removal, and persistent graveyard recursion to grind out victories over extended turn cycles.
