Deck overview

This deck is an Esper Sphinx tribal strategy commanded by The Ur-Sphinx. The commander's Eminence ability provides a permanent one-mana discount to all other Sphinx spells directly from the command zone. The deck leverages dense early ramp—including Medallions, Signets, Talismans, and Monuments—to accelerate past the high casting costs of its creature base. On Turn 4, it deploys powerhouse card advantage engines such as Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign or Consecrated Sphinx to dig through the library and chain additional threats. By Turn 6, it transitions into an overwhelming aerial offensive using game-ending beaters like Magister Sphinx, Sphinx of the Steel Wind, and Medomai the Ageless. While it lacks infinite combos, the combination of evasive combat damage, massive hand sizes, and resilient recursion allows the deck to consistently overwhelm opponents by Turn 8.
