Deck overview

This Orzhov deck is built around an expansive lifegain and drain engine commanded by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel. Early turns focus on establishing cheap lifegain triggers like Soul's Attendant, Auriok Champion, and Voice of the Blessed, while accelerating into midgame threats. Once the engine is online, the deck converts life gain into massive card advantage through its commander and Necropotence, while compounding board presence with Archangel of Thune, Nykthos Paragon, and Righteous Valkyrie. It establishes a credible lethal threat on Turn 6 and closes out the game around Turn 8 through overwhelming aerial attacks and symmetric life loss from Defiling Daemogoth, Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, and Bloodthirsty Conqueror. Flexible spot removal and instant-speed phasing or indestructible effects provide strong resilience against opposing disruption.
