Deck overview

This mono-black Demon tribal/value deck is helmed by Ardyn, the Usurper, who transforms graveyard creatures into 5/5 Demon tokens with haste, lifelink, and menace. The primary game plan is to leverage Ardyn's combat-step theft to amass a board of evasive beaters while the suite of life-drain payoffs (Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Enduring Tenacity, Blood Artist) and the alternate win condition Liliana's Contract close out games. The deck also packs powerful bombs like Archfiend of Despair, Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, and Torment of Hailfire as a mana sink. The curve is very high (average 4.00 without lands), and the mana base and acceleration are noticeably lean, making the deck a slow but resilient value engine that stabilizes in the mid-to-late game.
