Deck overview

Mendicant Core, Guidelight leads a tempo-oriented Azorius artifact midrange and swarm strategy. The deck focuses on accelerating its mana with low-cost mana rocks and cost reducers on Turns 1 through 3, establishing Mendicant Core early to begin accumulating speed counters through combat connections. Sustained by potent draw engines like Vedalken Archmage, Uthros Research Craft, and Shimmer Dragon, the deck floods the battlefield with noncreature artifacts and Thopter tokens. Upon reaching Max Speed on Turn 5 or 6, Mendicant Core copies impactful artifact spells, while decisive finishers like Cyberdrive Awakener, Kappa Cannoneer, and Myr Battlesphere convert the wide board into lethal, evasive combat damage across Turns 6 through 8. The deck features robust graveyard recursion through Emry and Teshar, supported by efficient instant-speed interaction and targeted hexproof protection.
