Deck overview

This deck uses mono-black big-mana acceleration to cast its eight-mana commander, Avacyn, Angel of Horror, and establish dominating end-step recursion loops. By pairing sacrifice outlets like Ashnod's Altar, Phyrexian Altar, or Yawgmoth, Thran Physician with nontoken creatures that trigger on entering or dying, the deck generates asymmetric value during every player turn. Edict creatures like Fleshbag Marauder and Plaguecrafter repeatedly clear opposing boards, while Mindslicer strips opposing hands. Meanwhile, recurring life-drain bombs such as Kokusho, the Evening Star and Gray Merchant of Asphodel quickly drain the table. Dense ramp packages including Cabal Coffers, Crypt Ghast, and Nirkana Revenant ensure the mana requirements are met. While the deck possesses massive resilience against board wipes and creature combat, it remains vulnerable to targeted exile removal and graveyard hate.
