Deck overview

This deck is a dedicated Azorius bureaucratic control and tax deck commanded by Grand Arbiter Augustin IV. Built around a flavor-rich theme of taxing effects and soft countermagic, the deck aims to slow down opposing game plans by making every action cost additional mana. Early turns establish mana taxes with pieces like Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, Aura of Silence, and Dovin, Hand of Control, followed by the commander on Turn 4 to break parity. Defensive enchantments like Ghostly Prison, Propaganda, and Sphere of Safety shut down combat steps. The deck converts this defensive grid into a victory through Azor's Elocutors or slow attrition with God-Pharaoh's Statue and creature combat. While highly disruptive against spell-heavy strategies, the deck lacks fast mana, nonland tutors, and hard sweepers, requiring careful piloting of soft permission to cross the finish line.
