Format: Commander

Commander: Ares, God of War

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Rakdos value-aggro built around Ares, God of War as a repeatable recursion engine. Ares must attack, and any attacking creature that dies returns to hand, so the deck attacks with hasty, high-power threats and sacrifices them during combat to drain opponents and draw cards. Secondary paths are the Neheb, the Eternal plus Aggravated Assault infinite-combat loop and Sneak Attack/Purphoros cheating. There is no hidden commander; the deck is built to use Ares's attack-death trigger. It wins by grinding 40 damage through combat and death triggers, or by going infinite with Neheb once enough life has been lost.
