Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black stax and attrition strategy built around Maha, Its Feathers Night. Maha sets the base toughness of all opposing creatures to 1. When paired with continuous -1/-1 effects like Night of Souls' Betrayal, Kaervek, the Spiteful, or Pestilence, opposing creatures immediately die upon entering the battlefield as state-based actions. This creates an asymmetric creature lock that neutralizes combat decks, token swarms, and creature-based commanders. The deck ramps on curve, uses black tutors to assemble its lock pieces, and protects its key permanents with spells like Kaya's Ghostform and Imp's Mischief. Once control is established, the deck closes the game through evasive commander damage, sudden one-shot swings with Hatred, massive mana sinks like Torment of Hailfire, or an infinite drain loop with Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond.
