Deck overview

This deck is a synergistic Rakdos burn and aristocrats list centered on Smaug the Impenetrable. Smaug possesses flying, indestructible, and haste, and creates Treasure tokens whenever it takes noncombat damage. The deck accelerates through early turns using standard mana rocks and draw spells like Deadly Dispute and Black Market Connections to set up drain permanents such as Mirkwood Bats, Marionette Apprentice, and Ingenious Artillerist. On turn 6, Smaug hits the battlefield and attacks. The deck then uses self-harm spells like Cut Propulsion, Self-Destruct, and Blasphemous Act to deal large amounts of noncombat damage to Smaug. Because Smaug is indestructible, it survives the damage and produces 8 to 16 Treasures immediately. These Treasures trigger lethal table-wide life loss through aristocrat payoffs or provide mana for a game-ending Exsanguinate. Backup plans include swarming with 5/5 Dragons via Draconic Visitor or winning with Revel in Riches.
