Deck overview

This Golgari deck harnesses Hazel of the Rootbloom to helm an explosive Squirrel tribal and token strategy. The game plan focuses on deploying cheap token generators in the early turns, casting Hazel on Turn 4, and duplicating Squirrel tokens every end step. Hazel's activated ability turns the growing swarm into a massive mana battery, accelerating expensive spells and doubling engines ahead of curve. The deck draws cards reliably through Skullclamp, Toski, Bearer of Secrets, and death triggers, keeping its hand refueled. With high mana velocity and wide boards established by Turn 5-6, the deck pivots into game-ending threats. It overwhelms opponents through decisive combat overruns like Craterhoof Behemoth, Beastmaster Ascension, and Preposterous Proportions, or drains life totals directly with Mirkwood Bats and Valley Rotcaller. While vulnerable to mass sweepers and lacking stack interaction, the deck features redundant token makers, versatile permanent removal, and resilient recovery routes to close out games efficiently.
