Deck overview

This Grand Arbiter Augustin IV deck is an Azorius stax and pillowfort control deck designed to establish commanding resource asymmetry. The strategy centers on deploying the commander on Turn 3 or 4 to discount your own spells while levying an omnipresent tax on opponents. Redundant tax and stax pieces—such as Thalia, Heretic Cathar, Suppression Field, Spelltithe Enforcer, and God-Pharaoh's Statue—progressively strangle opponent mana velocity and combat options. Card advantage engines like Rhystic Study and Trouble in Pairs thrive under these tax effects, drawing extra cards as opponents struggle to pay costs. The primary route to victory is the two-card combo of Rest in Peace and Helm of Obedience, which exiles opponents' libraries one by one, supported by late-game control threats like Medomai the Ageless and Absolute Virtue.
