Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov lifegain and life-drain midrange strategy commanded by Astarion, the Decadent. The primary plan develops early lifegain enablers such as Soul Warden and Tithe Drinker, followed by damage-doubling threats like Astarion, the Decadent and Bloodletter of Aclazotz on turns 4 and 5. On turn 6, the deck applies critical pressure by doubling combat and drain damage via Astarion's Feed trigger, eliminating opponents one by one through turn 8. As a backup route, the deck runs the infinite drain combo of Exquisite Blood paired with Sanguine Bond or Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose. The deck features solid board control with flexible spot exile spells and creature tap effects, though its reliance on creature-based engines and minimal stack protection leaves it vulnerable to well-timed sweepers and fast combo decks.
