Deck overview

This Golgari deck pairs go-wide token aristocrats with a compact spell-based combo. The primary game plan seeks to assemble Witherbloom Apprentice and Chain of Smog by turn 4, using black tutors to bridge access. Targeting yourself repeatedly with Chain of Smog triggers the Apprentice's Magecraft ability infinitely, draining the table in a single turn. Backing this combo is a robust token engine powered by cards like Chatterfang, Squirrel General, Sedgemoor Witch, and Bitterblossom. The commander, Witherbloom, the Balancer, leverages high creature counts through affinity to cast massive spells like Torment of Hailfire, Genesis Wave, and Army of the Damned for minimal mana. If the primary combo is disrupted, the deck pivots smoothly into go-wide combat finishes with Craterhoof Behemoth or overwhelming asymmetric attrition through Grave Pact and heavy mana engines like Warren Soultrader and Enduring Vitality.
