Deck overview

This deck is a classic Dimir Zombie Aristocrats build commanded by Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver. The strategy focuses on establishing early Zombie board presence, using Wilhelt to convert dying nontoken creatures into decayed Zombie tokens while generating continuous card draw. The deck leverages heavy tribal synergy, combining sacrifice outlets like Carrion Feeder and Viscera Seer with potent death triggers from Diregraf Captain, Vengeful Dead, and Blood Artist. It accelerates into explosive mid-to-late game turns with high-impact payoffs such as Living Death, Bolas's Citadel, Rooftop Storm, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel. While the deck features robust functional redundancy and strong resilience against traditional destroy sweepers through death-drain triggers, its reliance on the graveyard and creature permanents leaves it vulnerable to exile sweepers, targeted graveyard hate, and fast spell-based combo decks.
