Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov lifegain aggro-control strategy led by Karlov of the Ghost Council. It establishes an early board presence on Turns 1 and 2 by combining low-cost lifegain permanents like Soul Warden and Authority of the Consuls with Karlov. Every instance of lifegain places two +1/+1 counters on Karlov, rapidly turning the commander into a massive threat that also controls opposing boards through its {W}{B} exile ability. The deck sustains pressure through auxiliary drain engines like Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, while retaining an infinite drain loop via Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond. Strong spot removal and efficient protective spells keep the engine running smoothly.
