Deck overview

This deck is a classic Group Hug and Pillowfort control strategy helmed by Phelddagrif. It accelerates the entire table's mana and card draw using symmetric engines like Eladamri's Vineyard, Font of Mythos, and Kwain, Itinerant Meddler, while establishing defensive attack taxes with Ghostly Prison, Propaganda, and Sphere of Safety to deter retaliation. As opponents overextend and fill their hands, the deck digs through its library to find its primary win condition, Approach of the Second Sun. After casting Approach the first time on Turn 6, the deck's massive draw throughput quickly redraws it for a game-winning second cast on Turn 7. Secondary win lines leverage hand-size punishment and draw burn through Psychosis Crawler, Iron Maiden, and Forced Fruition. Supported by efficient counterspells and targeted removal, the deck protects its life total and engine until it can decisively close the game.
