Smaug by Ornnet

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Smaug the Impenetrable is a Rakdos treasure-combo deck. Its primary kill casts Chain Lightning at Smaug, whose indestructible body converts each damage event into three Treasures; repeated copies then pay their own {R}{R} cost and create an arbitrarily large token stream. A payoff such as Reckless Fireweaver, Mirkwood Bats, Mayhem Devil, or Pain for All turns that loop into lethal. Smaug the Impenetrable is the commander and a hasty seven-mana damage-to-Treasure centerpiece, while Magda, Brazen Outlaw, Goldspan Dragon, and other Treasure cards support alternate wins through Revel in Riches, Knuckles the Echidna, or large Exsanguinate and Torment of Hailfire. Chain Lightning is the hidden commander because it is the compact bridge from Smaug to victory.
