Deck overview

This deck is an Izzet forced-draw and combat-manipulation deck helmed by Red Death, Shipwrecker. The core strategy revolves around filling opponents' hands with extra cards through symmetrical draw engines like Howling Mine, Dictate of Kruphix, and the commander's tap ability. Once opponents are holding full grips, the deck deploys punishing artifacts and creatures—such as Iron Maiden, Ebony Owl Netsuke, Viseling, and Razorkin Needlehead—that inflict severe damage during upkeeps and draw steps. Simultaneously, goad spells like Disrupt Decorum and Bothersome Quasit force opponents to turn their creatures against one another while pillowfort cards like Crawlspace protect the pilot. While the strategy applies relentless table-wide pressure, symmetrical card draw naturally gifts opponents removal spells, requiring careful timing of defensive combat tricks.
