Deck overview

Vren, the Relentless pilots a Dimir attrition deck that turns every creature death into a growing Rat army. The core plan forces opponent creatures to die - through sacrifice outlets like Fleshbag Marauder, Plaguecrafter, and removal spells - exiling them under Vren's ability to generate a swarm of 1/1 Rat tokens that buff each other. A reanimation package (Buried Alive, Entomb, Reanimate, Animate Dead) provides flexibility, letting the deck recur high-impact threats like Rankle, Master of Pranks or Butcher of Malakir when the Rat plan stalls. The primary win condition is combat damage from a wide board of Rats, often amplified by Dragon Throne of Tarkir or given evasion through Piper of the Swarm. The deck plays a patient, control-oriented game, using sacrifice effects for repeated value while Vren's tokens eventually overwhelm opponents.
