Deck overview

Kiora, Sovereign of the Deep rewards casting large Krakens, Leviathans, Octopuses, and Serpents by turning each large creature into a top-library selection and possible free spell. The deck uses early land ramp from Utopia Sprawl, Wild Growth, Sol Ring, Rampant Growth, Three Visits, Cultivate, and Kodama's Reach to reach that engine around turn 6. Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait converts extra land drops into cards, while Rhystic Study, Up the Beanstalk, Garruk's Uprising, and The Great Henge keep the hand supplied. The first major threat is usually Koma, World-Eater or Koma, Cosmos Serpent on turn 7. The deck then builds a large combat board and seeks Serpent of Yawning Depths, Craterhoof Behemoth, or Overwhelming Stampede for a turn-10 finish. Its main limitations are expensive threats, incomplete access to the final combat package, and only moderate protection.
