Deck overview

This deck is a Golgari midrange and Voltron strategy built around Ygra, Eater of All. Early turns focus on deploying efficient ramp and low-cost Food producers such as Gilded Goose, Tough Cookie, and Heaped Harvest. On Turn 5, casting Ygra transforms every creature on the battlefield into a Food artifact. As tokens, creatures, and Foods go to the graveyard through combat, removal, or sacrifice outlets like Greta, Sweettooth Scourge, Ygra quickly swells into a lethal commander damage threat. Mass removal like Culling Ritual wipes small permanents while granting Ygra overwhelming size and providing a burst of mana. The deck closes games around Turn 8 by attacking sequentially with an unblockable or trampling Ygra using Rogue's Passage, Provisions Merchant, or Unnatural Growth, supplemented by life drain from Nadier's Nightblade. While Ygra's built-in Ward punishes targeted removal, the lack of dedicated instant-speed protection and reliance on combat damage over multiple turn cycles leave windows for interactive opponents to respond.
