Deck overview

This mono-black deck is helmed by Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker and exploits its end-step recursion on creatures with power 1 or less. The core engine revolves around 29 copies of Shadowborn Apostle, which are sacrificed six at a time to fetch powerful Demon creatures from the library. Shirei returns those Apostles at each end step, enabling repeated sacrifice loops. The primary win conditions are assembling four different Demons to trigger Liliana's Contract for an instant win, or overwhelming opponents with high-impact Demons like Vilis, Broker of Blood and Valgavoth, Terror Eater through combat and life-drain. Thrumming Stone can chain multiple Apostles from a single cast, accelerating the engine. The deck leans heavily on Shirei remaining on the battlefield, using protection spells like Not Dead After All and Malakir Rebirth to keep it active.
