Deck overview

This deck is a Selesnya Hatebear and Aggro Midrange strategy commanded by Kudo, King Among Bears. Kudo sets the base power and toughness of all other creatures to 2/2, fundamentally warping the battlefield. The deck breaks parity through asymmetric static modifiers: Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite permanently cleanses opposing boards by giving opponents' 2/2s -2/-2, while Reverence completely prevents opposing creatures from attacking you. Layered with tax pieces like Collector Ouphe, Gaddock Teeg, Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, and Archon of Emeria, the deck strangles opponent development and artifact-based mana. Anthems and growth triggers from Cathars' Crusade, Felidar Retreat, and Loyal Guardian allow your own creatures to outgrow opposing bears rapidly. Card flow is sustained through power-conditioned draw engines like Welcoming Vampire and Mentor of the Meek. While vulnerable to mass noncreature board wipes and lacking infinite combos, it creates an oppressive combat stranglehold.
