Deck overview

This Rakdos deck is a focused Group Slug and combo strategy commanded by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The primary game plan revolves around deploying cheap, passive damage sources like Razorkin Needlehead, Sulfuric Vortex, and Zo-Zu the Punisher on early turns. When Valgavoth enters on Turn 4, each opponent taking damage during their own turn triggers Valgavoth to grow into a formidable flying threat while drawing up to three extra cards per turn cycle. This rapid card flow fuels high-tempo plays, quickly digging into the deck's decisive win condition: the two-card infinite combo of Exquisite Blood and Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose. Alternatively, the deck closes games through massive damage multipliers like Archfiend of Despair and Sower of Discord. Robust removal suites answer diverse permanent types, while asymmetric attrition pieces like Archfiend of Depravity and Kardur, Doomscourge keep opposing creature strategies in check throughout the match.
